Chances for Wharton undergrad

<p>Hey, I am currently a high school student in Denmark(5.5 mil. inhabitants). I have been looking into Wharton and thought that it was perfect, so I am wondering what my chances are.
The system in Denmark is different, so please bear with me. I can't really post much stats, just text.
I go to an elite high school, it's the best in Denmark. The school is actually much alike Wharton undergrad, it combines liberal arts with business and is focused on project-oriented leadership. There are various Economics subjects as well. We also individually get mentored 4 times a year by a CEO from a big company. Only 60 students attend the school and 20% drop out, because of the difficulty. Some students travel for hours just to get there, it's really the peach of young danish academics.
In Denmark we don't have all kinds of competitions, clubs, awards etc etc. Extra-curricular activities and school life are strictly separated. I wonder if that's a problem?</p>

<p>Individually, I skipped a grade and have top-top grades, most likely the best grade average in the entire country. It's difficult when I can't give you the stats, but that should say it, perfect score in almost everything.
Normal high schools in Denmark have 4 A-level subjects, the elite school has 6.
I am also a minority, most people from the Persian minority in Denmark are criminals and uneducated. On top of that, I am an immigrant and I lived for years in an asylum center. My parents fled from the dictatorship in Iran and my father went to jail for political crimes. He made a theatre, which was critical of the islamic regime.</p>

<p>I speak English, Persian(read and write the arabic letters), Danish, Norwegian and German.</p>

<p>My leadership abilities are great and people call me the Iranian Martin Luther King because of my charisma and excellent rhetorical and speech-giving abilities. I am absolutely not a robot, despite my excellent grades/stats. My curiosity is my drive and I don't work like a horse, because I want to 'be somebody', but because I am very curious and try to learn new things all the time.</p>

<p>I need perhaps 1/3 financial aid, but not sure about the exact amount.</p>

<p>Sorry if it's a bit atypical and essayish for a "Chances" thread, but it's not just all about stats, especially when things are radically different over here.</p>

<p>The stuff about persians is true, but some stats such as GPA, SAT (or whatever test you take), class rank, examples of leadership would be helpful</p>

<p>As said, I get perfect score or almost perfect score always.
At the last exam I got these results, I will try to convert them as good as I can:
Verbal: A+
Math: 95%
English: A+
Danish: A+
Society science: A+
Corporation economy: A
International economy: A
No physics, it’s a business school.
We don’t take SAT or GPA here though, but I can take it in a center if necessary.</p>

<p>I’m school president and I am one of the leaders of a self-made non-profit philosophy-activism movement.
Other then that, it’s difficult to prove the leadership qualities, because we don’t have such a club and extracurricular culture like in the US. My principals can vouch for my leadership qualities though, I am always the leader in projects and initiatives.</p>

<p>Definitely apply to Wharton. You sound like you are very interested in business. It’s very competitive, but if you demonstrate in your application what you would gain from attending Wharton, as well as what you would contribute to the community, there’s no reason why you should’t have a great chance of getting in.</p>

<p>My grandfather was the CEO of the National Bank of Iran (before the revolution 1979, before the extremist regime).</p>

<p>Pretty sure Wharton and UPenn in general require either the SAT with two Subject Tests or the ACT with Writing. Can’t chance you without them.</p>

<p>Right, and that would have to be about 2250+, right? I definitely think I can get that at least, or higher. I got one of the best grade averages in the country, so it’s likely I would get a pretty high SAT score.</p>

<p>Also, I forgot to mention that I recently got elected as President of the National Union of Business High School Students.</p>

<p>2300+ is usually seen as a pretty good benchmark for Wharton, not so sure about internationals although I’d assume that the standards are set higher.</p>

<p>Can you take the SAT IIs as well? If so, take the Math II (and attempt to score 800; it’s very possible) and a second test of your choice.</p>

<p>Yeah, it’s quite competitive with international students, but I am perhaps the only or one of a handful who applies for Wharton in the country. In the last graduating class of the Elite High School, not even one student went abroad. Even if there were other students from Denmark who applied, I would be put ahead, because I am from the Elite High School and triple-immigrant and the extracurricular activity. They might possibly have contacts or friends in Wharton, but yeah, I can probably assume I am number 1 candidate in Denmark.</p>

The fact that its only 5.5 mil ppl, and the limited awards, plus the school’s reputation wont get u anywhere; there are just as many internationals, esp chinese who are as good as u. Aid demanding wont get u anywhere, sorry but u can stay in Denmark :))</p>
