Chances getting into Virginia Tech

I'm currently a junior and I'm looking at going to Virginia Tech mostly because they're the only school that has anything to do with wildlife and fisheries science in Virginia. I have a 3.9 gpa out of a 4.5. I haven't taken the SATs yet but my psat scores were below average. Im hoping to get at least a 600 in the math and reading.

AP classes- AP world history and AP United States and next year i will be taking three more in physics, calculus, and government.

E.C- 1 year jv and 2years of Varsity Volleyball, 2 years of Varsity basketball, 2 years of Varsity Tennis. I couldn't play my 3rd year of Var. Bball and tennis because i had to get knee surgery after tearing my acl in volleyball
1 year of TSA and im in the student council

Oh i held leadership in Volleyball for all 3 years as Captain

I don't have that much volunteer work , only around 30 hours but i'll probably get more by my senior year

Since the fisheries program is more unique at VT does that improve my chances?

If you get a decent SAT (say, 1850-2000) then I would say you are in.

thanks. Does legacy count if both my parents went to Vt but neither graduated from there? ha talk about reverse legacy!!

also any tips for doing well on the math section of the SAT , i’ve been doing review, but i’m afraid thats not enough

chances…anyone?

As long as you aren’t engineering or architecture, you should be fine.

I’m applying to VT later this year also, I would say that as long as you get a 1700 or above on the SAT, you’ll get in.
