Chances- give advice

White male from southern Connecticut. I go to a really competitive Jesuit High School in Fairfield, which is a College Prep school. We don't inflate gpas that much (+.25 for honors and AP, no IB), and if you decide to overload (7 classes per day), then subjects like band don't count for your GPA. We also have to take theology, which is a drag + required community service. I'm hoping colleges will include band and exclude theology in their GPA calculations. My school is among the top 50 Jesuit High Schools in America, and has a 33% initial acceptance rate.

Stats:

SAT 1: 1330 old- 660m, 670cr, 590w (10 on the essay, no excuse, lol)
SAT 2: Taking math level 1, U.S., History hoping for 600+
Gpa: 3.21f (2.9 first semester), 3.38soph, 3.487jun, all not including concert band.

Volunteer Work

100 hours at a nursing home, 20 hours at the library, 50 hours at community recreation center

Work Experience

worked 2 years at a doctors office, interning at one point during hospital rounds.

ECs

Jazz Band (2nd Trumpet; 3 years), Concert Band (2nd Trumpet; 4 years), Political Awareness (at a conservative school, I find I have to defend my leftist values at all times; 2 years), School Newspaper (only for seniors, so 1 year), Y Online Magazine (one kid has connections with a daily show producer: we interviewed Julianne Moore last year; 1 year), Boy Scouts (made star; 4 years), tried out for tennis all 3 years, didn't make it, but I play a lot in my spare time, and hopefully I'll make the cut this year.

Recommendations: Physics teacher, history teacher

Essay: Should be pretty good

Reaches
Northwestern (Dream school, visited twice) ED
Boston College (Legacy + Jesuit HS hook?)
Wake Forest University
New York University

Matches
Boston University (my friend's brother got in with a 3.1 from my school)
Syracuse University
University of Mayland- College Park

Safeties
University of Connecticut (in-state)
Pennsylvania State University (Legacy)
Loyola College in Maryland
Fordham University

I think that your gpa is just way too low to be considered at northwestern.

Well, that doesn't really help me at all. Do you mind mentioning my chances at the other schools?

that doesnt help you? you asked for your chances, i basically said you dont have much of a chance at nu.

if you want me to be more systematic:
Northwestern: HUUUGE reach
Boston College (Legacy + Jesuit HS hook?): reach, b/c of your legacy
Wake Forest University: dont know enough about
New York University: reach
Boston University: match/slight reach?
Syracuse University: match
University of Mayland- College Park: slight reach (oos)
University of Connecticut: match
Pennsylvania State University (Legacy): match
Loyola College in Maryland: safety
Fordham University: safety

your gpa brings down your chances at most of these schools

Do you think that my first quarter grades will come into account? Also, do you recommend I take the SAT 1 again?

bump..................

If you think you can do better, than you should obviously go for it. However, like 67dream said, you're gpa is on the low side, and colleges weight that more than the SAT.

bump pleass
