Chances..? Help! I have no one to talk to!!

It's Spring break and I have no one to consult about the chances at Ivies...
I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me (yes I know that there's no guarantees for HYP) how much of a chance I have at the schools I want to go.

Alright, here goes. (please read thru, I'll be as organized as possible)

-SAT N/A (taking it this June, definitely hoping for about 2250)
-PSAT 210
-SAT II Chem 750, Math IIC N/A (presumably 800 according to practice tests.. yes I know practice test scores are not accurate), US History N/A

-GPA 3.9 UW so far, N/A Weighted
-Taking very rigorous courses, the most in senior year (adcoms look at what I'm taking senior year, right? for ED/A?)
-Have taken 4 APs so far.
-Counselor will explain my grades (two of the classes i took had almost no As because of teachers/challenging material w/e)
-School doesn't rank. top 10%

-Recs.
-GC recs should be very good
-AP eng teacher recs. should be very good. she wrote me one for this very selective leadership program in the county govt. and she wrote that I'm a very passionate learner and so on..
-AP US teacher recs. should be good. loves me but haven't done stellar in his class (hardest class in my school)

ECs.
-Studnet Leader at a non profit organization.
-The Liaison of my school's choral dept.
-Senior and leader of church service group
-Selected as the student rep. and member of the county's leadership program.
-Hopefully Boys State (results mailed in soon)
-Student writer for a local news paper
-Started Small business translating Korean text to Eng. (had about 20 customers..)
-Planning to publish a book (yes I know that it might not help and might hurt, but I think the work shows "me" very well)
-Tae Kwon Do First Degree black belt
-Select Vocal Ensemble
* will choose two or three I truly care about on actual app.*

Several projects and effort to
bring the community and differenct races together.

Awards
-bunch of essay awards (east coast wide)
-bunch of community service awards (community wide)
-bunch of chorus awards (state wide)
-waiting for scholarship results....so anxious.

Essay will talk about my family situation, obstacles overcome and etc. personal stuff.

Hook: maybe minority status?? and my interest in humanities, foreign relations.

Lived here for 5 years, started learning Eng. 5 years ago. Surprised everyone with "superior" Eng development (according to my ESOL dept. chair)
family split apart so that I can go to school here.

I guess that's about it.
Thank SOOO much if you read thru all this.

I just had no one to discuss this with. Almost on one at my school applies for Ivies.

Give me your honest assessment and opinion.

-Harvard
-Princeton (I heard they're admitting more URMs to get rid of its reputation as elite white school.)
-Yale
-Duke
-Johns Hopkins
-George Town
-UC Berkely
-other Ivies?

anyone please? 16 views and nothing...

are those the only schools your applying to? you can get into a bunch of good schools with that GPA and all those extra cirricular activities, doesnt have to be IVY or a top 10 school....apply to a little less than those so that you definently get in those, and hopefully get into some of those schools

Your in everywhere....pretty much.

insecure101, really?
that maybe the BEST thing I've heard since the break

those are NOT the only school's I'm applying to.
It's just that Ivies have been and are my dream colleges and just wanted to know if I have any chance there.

anyone please? care to share?

Well if you've really won a "bunch" of awards in all categories like you said you should be in, just like if you get all those scores... what "URM" are you, exactly? Maybe I missed it in the post, but in any case your story sounds pretty compelling =)

Make sure you explain your grades if they're not the best in the school, or why you got a B if several others got A's - remember that these schools are looking for THE best... maybe say that's not your strong subject or something? I don't know; B's always scared me. But your test scores should be fine if they turn out as planned, esp. if you're an URM with a good story to tell.

I wouldn't say you have clear chances. There are so many Asian kids applying to Ives each year and they all seem to be very smart. It looks like you're well-rounded, english, math, science, social studies. Do you have passion in any specific subject? If you do then you have to show it in your application

Like I said...as long as you show yourself as a great person: your in everywhere.

Your a good applicant but along with that your a URM (which is the diff. between accepted and rejected)

I just said that I heard Princeton is accepting more URMs. Not that I am one...
Honestly, I don't even know if I am an URM... lol
I'm a Korean. Came from a low income background.

lackadaisy, I've seen your stats! AMAZING is the word.

yes Bs scare the crap out of me... i guess it's like an Asian thing...

I just have like B+s in like AP US which is the hardest class in school
and B+s a class where B+ actually was the highest grade in the class...

I guess my CG will take care of that stuff.
my school is 22nd best public school in the nation as well so pretty challenging. (adds. .5 to AP classes only)

94-100 A
89-93 B+
and so on...

Irbis, yes Asian kids are smart, but so few are well rounded like lackadaisy is... (All Asians can play pianos and violins and w/e so that's not much of a hook)

Yea.. compelling... family issue has been driving me crazy... that's why I'm gonna write about it in my essay to show them who I truly am.

Thanks for the replies!

I'd appreciate more opinions though..

oh yea... i'm not a citizen or permanat resident..
international student.

I don't know if your low-income will help but exactly how low is it?
International and Korean....hmmmm NOT GOOD, sry.

well i'm not gonna say out loud what my dad makes lol
i'm not expecting my financial status to get me into Ivies...

anyway... what do you mean Not good?

Korean doesn't count as "URM" by college adcom standards, unfortunately. The problem is that all the smartest people in the world are Koreans ... and I'm not even kidding. The only reason I am rank 1 in my school is because the Korean girl left, you know. ;)

HOWEVER I think you can rescue that situation with a nice essay. My awards are mostly local-type things that weren't hard to get - mostly effort/time-based. You have quite a few yourself :) but QPA, test scores, and your personal story are still the most important things.

LOL
yea I knew being Korean doesn't help

Nice essay, huh?
hmm I daresay I'm good with essay
when should I get started? This summer?
Do you think talking about my obstacles will be enough?

Don't be so humble!
lackadaisy, I think your stats will get you anywhere (of course, there's no guarantee for Ivies, but still)

Anything I should improve upon? I'm afraid my GPA might drop!! AHHHH!
impending SAT, AP exams.....

How can low income stuff help applicants if the adcoms don't even see the financial part of tha app?

anyone else?
