So what do you think? Thanks

class rank??? essay idea??

Not enough info.
What's your rank?
Right now I'd say that your GPA and SATs are too low for ND.
ECs are ok, but very similar to others out there.
Need more info, more sell.
With the info I have, I'd say no chance.

The person has absolutely no chance...

Hm...

That's sad.

the only way i see that is possible for u to be admitted is ur essay has to be alsome and u are an URM.

HS doesn't rank, but it is very competitive, ranked third in the state.

I'm thinking my essay will be about the cultural influences my step-dad (Italian) and step-mom (Mexican) have had on me.

Will also submit everything I've had published.

I am hoping for your sake that your essay is good. I wouldnt say that with your stats your application is completely out of the question, but the essay could most likely be the deciding factor.
About the last post though, anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong, but the way i took it is anything other than your recommendation letters and essays and the application form, the university will not take into account any other submitted materials. Such as published essays and writings. Mostly because of the number of applicants and their limited time.

I agree. With ND, I think they get easily annoyed when people send in extra material that they did not request.

Thanks for the advice, some colleges do some don't.

you are a urm though

I sure hope you indicated your hispanic because that will help alot

BUT he is not Mexican, his STEP mother is Mexican, and i dont think the ethnicity of the mother will account for him.

oh didnt see the STEP part

and I wonder why my CR score is low!

powderpuff... arnt you a little to extreme when you say... no chance

hey, everyone has a chance. im leaning towards the lower end of the spectrum though. your gpa-sat score mix is not the most stellar. - i had a 3.4 but a 2220 sat score, just as an example. also, your clubs, while considerable wont do that much for you because they see alot of people in the same clubs. while your essay choice is valid and may be interesting, i have friends that are from the same family situation - so make sure to find a particularly interesting aspect of your home life. DO NOT take too big of a bite. focus on a very tiny slice of the subject.

I disagree about sending in extra stuff. It's obvious from looking at the scores and extracurriculars that writing is a big deal for GAhopeful. I say to send in what you think benefits you to send in. If it gives the admissions office a genuine glimpse into an aspect of you not reflected in the test scores, GPA, EC's etc., have at it! I highly doubt the admissions office people make decisions based upon the level of their annoyance with an applicant. Only GA can know whether or not the extra material being sent in is going to provide a real glimpse into the soul.

It's certainly worth a shot, but I'd keep my options open.

There are three major aspects to being a great writer. One is the mechanics of structure, grammar, word choice, etc. One is the poetic flow (even in prose). People tend to associate these two with writers right away. What makes the biggest difference between a good writer and a great one, however, is that third aspect--insight and perspective. Standardized tests measure the first and second, but the third is only apparent in the writing.

If the writing samples clearly convey that third element of insight, I would think that, rather than be annoyed, the admissions folks might well be impressed.

"Absolutely no chance" is a little extreme.

IMO, you do have a chance, albeit not a great one. Both your GPA (assuming its UW) and your SATs fall on the lower end of ND's range... but that doesn't mean you have "no chance". Your ECs seem to be pretty decent. Hopefully, your essay and recommendation letter were both great.

You applied. There's really nothing you can do now but wait. Nothing that anyone here says will change what ND admissions decides. Good luck.

actually they stress on the website to not send in extra materials. it only floods their office, and is never put into consideration because those parts would never make it to the deciding committee. People in the offices sort through and remove all unnecessary papers, and will remove them.
In my opinion it could be unfair to students who limit their application because they understand the stress it causes being compared to the same students who would rather send the extras anyway.

Brought CR up to 690.

Good work.
