Also found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm getting a poem published in an anthology, planning on submitting more of my things.

Looks good based on your academics.
If you're an exceptional athlete, definitely contact one of our coaches. We're bringing the track team back for 2008-09 and I assume I'll be your captain, and I know we're beginning to look for people in the recruiting class, so shoot Coach Van Norman an e-mail. If you're looking at the football team, shoot Coach Greg Davis an e-mail. They take walk-ons and stuff, too; that's what I did this year.

i wouldn't get too comfortable..next year is supposed to be the most competitive year in college admission history...your scores are in the low-middle range of tulane's average scores so don't think your going to be admitted no matter what...

jawhawk...i got in with WAY below scores (550/520/610) before i submitted my better ones after i got the admit letter. i have NO idea what you are talking about.

I don't think it's helpful to advise people to be pessimistic, especially when they have a special skill or talent like this. Ecpliptica's specific advice is certainly the most to-the-point here.

The truth is that Georgia's SATs right now--as a junior--might be high enough to get him some financial aid if what happened to others is any indication, and he has his senior year to retake if he wants to. That would be my suggestion--just to be on the safe side.

Try the ACT, too. You're in good shape, but the ACT works even better for some people. It did for my son.
Good luck!

Though Tulane does not have students audition for the theater program until the second year, does anyone know whether a potentially good actor/theater major may get a positive nod, though the HS GPA and SAT are below standard?

hellooo briansteffy. If you are admitted to TUlane, why would they look at your hs gpa/sat?! I think if you transfer they would but as far as being a student, they'd just look at your gpa so far.
