Just out of curiosity, what do you plan on majoring in?
I’m pretty sure we’re the exact same person by looking at your EC’s and other stuff, I’m a huge vocal performance person (and a little musical theatre too!) haha!
Anyway, I think you have the stats to be a competitive candidate, a major hook for you is your concentration in music/performance.
I’m not the best at chancing, but from what I’ve seen from others, you’re solid in the test score area, just make sure to bring out your personality and passion in your application!
I’m 2020 as well, and I’m about to post a chancing thread so I’ll link you to it when I post it, haha.
But best of luck to you!
Thanks let me know! And I’m probably gonna do some combination of Music, Drama/Theater Arts, and Environmental Science. I’m not sure what would go where yet in terms of concentrations, majors, and minors. Yeah, I’m gonna try to play up the performance aspect as much as I can!
What schools are you applying to? You posted this in the Columbia 2020 thread, so for columbia I would say it’s a high reach. You do have a chance, but that’s an ultra competitive application process. If you applied ED it would help a little, but you should be aware that it’s going to be a pretty expensive tuition.
Your grades and standardized test scores are stellar (congrats!!), but when applying to top tier schools like ivies, that isn’t really that much of an asset, because you’re competing with kids who did identically, or even better than you.
It’s going to come down to your ECs and essays. Your ECs are pretty solid, they show both well roundedness and focus, as well as commitment. If you can nail your essays, you have a good chance at most of the high tier schools. Writing about your experiences as being a gay student in high school could make for a really strong essay if you play it right.
Good luck, and congrats. You obviously worked your butt off these past few years.
I’d appreciate it if you chanced me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1790266-chance-me-will-chance-back.html?new=1
Oh btw you might want to consider retaking Bio subject sat to bring it up a little.
@mayajumbalaya I meant for Columbia in this thread! And thank you; just chanced back!
