Chances in reach schools?

Hello everyone,

This spring I'll be applying to a few schools as a transfer student from a CCC in san francisco and I never talked to someone about it apart from my professors, what would my chances be at these schools? While I realize most of these are reach schools I'd really appreciate your input here. I have 45 completed units so far. My major is computer science.

Schools:
Amherst college
Colby college
Cornell university
Claremont mckenna college
Carnegie mellon university
Umass amherst
NYU
Colgate university

About me: I'm 23 years old. I grew up in Brazil and moved here when I turned 18. After being in the US for a year mastering the language I went to europe in a almost year long backpacking trip. Where I went from russia to ireland. Moved back to the US and saved for college and moved to SF to start out in a community college. I have worked to sustain myself all along. More recently I have started working for a startup and have founded a project on my own too (which I'm still working on with a partner).

I think that briefly sums up my story. And I have 3 excellent letters from my professors.

Ps: I'm not an international student, I'm a permanent resident.

Your thoughts are highly appreciated. Thank you.

My GPA is 3.7

Any info on classes you’ve taken, extra curriculars, etc? You’re story is definitely unique and could be a hook, but I need to know more.

Hi Bdwag96,

As ECs I dont have much except the coders club at school.
I work 30 hours a week so I dont have much time left in the day.
I’m either at school or working and on weekends I work in my project.

Bumping up

up again…

Amherst college–5%
Colby college–40%–don’t know a lot about
Cornell university–5%
Carnegie mellon university–10% --very competitive CS
Umass amherst–70%
NYU–40%–do you have the $$?
Colgate university–30%–don’t know a lot about
Claremont McKenna–15%? Not familiar with either…

Sorry. I hope that can at least help you get a general idea.

Thanks that was very helpful  and yes I realize NYU doesn’t give much financial aid, but it seems that to some they do. I’m not going unless they at least cover the tuition. I have a job I can work from home, so living costs are not a worry.
