thanks! you’re right, it is very competitive, but I hope I can get in :)

bump 10char

I would say very low chances for the Ivys and other elite institutions.

why do you say that?

To be totally honest, from Villanova down, you’re golden.

however, Ivywise, your stats aren’t perfect. That being said, your extracurrics and volunteering bring your right back into the thick of admissions. Umm, assuming you’re thinking about majoring in science - ivy admissions are going to be ridiculous. for instance, i know for a fact that the average Princeton admit from last year had somewhere around 2220-2230 for his or her SAT score. That means that, most likely, 60% of people that get admitted have higher stats than you when talking about the big leagues.

however, this doesn’t mean I’m saying “count yourself out”. I think you have a very strong shot. however, you’re not exactly painting the full picture for me. What do you love to do? Tennis? Science? Math? To your benefit, you’ve certainly showed your value to the community and your willingness to do good for society in your volunteering, which is a beautiful thing both on an app and in your heart (excuse the cliche XD). However, to your disadvantage, you haven’t exactly proved that you absolutely love what you’re majoring in.

What I’m saying is that while you are a fantastic applicant, there are other applicants with around the same score as you, who are getting work experience in fields they love and want to pursue in college, or internships, etc, etc, etc.

Once again, I doubt you’re putting your full resume up - but while you are a fantastic applicant (though the scores are a TAD on the low side - not disadvantageously low, but just a bit), I don’t see anything that exactly sets you apart, and makes college applications go “wow, he/she is someone worth having in our chemistry department” or something like that.

Also, are you expecting to be a recruited athelete?

and as a closing note, seriously, fantastic job with the volunteering. I sincerely hope that you get far in college apps, because you seem like you’re doing a LOT of good for the community in a LOT of ways, and i commend you for that. it’s always nice to see someone with a heart applying to college :)

if it’s not too much trouble, check my thread out too?

thank you so much  I’m not expecting to be a recruited athlete, though.

I guess there’s nothing that sets you apart for the Ivy league schools. You’re set for that second tier, in my opinion. Which is still incredible and a testament to what you’ve done and your potential.
