(chances) low gpa and no sats yet

What college can I get into with a 3.0 uw gpa? I really want to go to college in California like USC but i probably dont have a chance there with my gpa. I can still improve but not by much and I haven't taken my SATs yet. What kind of score would I need to get to make up for my gpa? Also, if it helps I have over 400 community service hours and 8-9 Ecs. What's the best type of college I still have a chance to get into. I know Ivy's are out of the question.

So what do you guys think?

Try UOP, Whittier, Chapman and CSUs if you're in state.

For CA I'm out of state

Well the first 3 and some other small privates are quite possible as long as you don't need much aid because none of them are generous,

I do need lots of aid and I'm interested in big universities rather than small. Could I possibly get into anything better?

A 3.0 and needing a lot of aid will make things hard. Maybe try a school in your state and transferring?

My state school is College Park-MD. That might me a reach too. And I don't want to transfer. Plus, I would rather go to a big city school.

anybody else??

please!

what kind of big cities are you looking for

I really want to go to maybe LA in Southern CA or maybe NY or DC. But preferably CA.

Honestly, I don't see much point in aiming for an out of state school when the costs (quite possibly high), your current GPA, and non-existant SAT scores don't really facilitate it yet. Especially in California.

My suggestion is looking into match and reach schools within your state and maybe transferring after your first year.

Agree, chances of your getting aid at an OOS public are nil and I don't really see any CA privates where you'll get much aid with a 3.0. You may not get into your state flagship, but aren't there other schools in state?

you guys are saying i cant get in anywhere oos? are you serious???

I'm not saying that, but looking at it realistically, it may be incredibly hard for you and not worth it in terms of cost and education in the long run. You may as well stay in state and get the same education or better rather than pay a much larger amount for an OOS school.

Also, sorry if this sounds harsh, but you're just reaping what you sowed. A 3.0 isn't exactly a sign of hard work during high school. Take what you can get, then work hard during your first year of college, and maybe you can transfer. That's just my two cents.

yeah the big city schools are harder to get into now. basically you should find a big school that is not in the cities, however big schools as PSU-UP, Purdue, OSU have all higher gpas/sats nowadays..

You're not UC-eligible from out-of-state, because your unweighted GPA is < 3.4, the new UC standard.
