Sorry, Columbia and Penn are probably not going to happen… I don’t know about the other schools though.

^ haha yeah thats been the consensus, im applying just because on the slight chance.

Other than the admission fee and a few hours of your time, it costs nothing to try – though I agree with the consensus on Columbia and Wharton.

I figured Wharton would be a miracle, but is Columbia’s business school more/less challenging to get in compared to the rest of the school?

this is something i just never understand about seniors.
you don’t apply to two reallly top tier schools, and then apply to 5 whatever schools.
you pick solid schools as well.
like UCLA, USC, Berkeley, UCSD, UVA.
Alll the schools I just listed above are matches for you.
and only send in your ACT scores if you can.
you should apply to cornell, too. that would be a reach, but not really.

UAlabama: Safety (easily and with that ACT, you get a full ride!)
UGA: Low Match (Should be easy for you too, couldnt hurt to apply to their honors program! which is on par with schools like Vanderbilt, Emory, USC, UCLA, etc)
UFlorida:Low Match
Columbia and UPenn: Like everyone else said it’s a reach  but hey it’s definitely not unheard of for people with your stats to be accepted up in the ivies, it’s just not common lol.

For UF, you’re a good applicant IMO. The most worrying thing to me would be your weighted GPA recalculated (you can figure out how to do it on their website and find out where you stand; they want a 4.0+ weighted) and idk your rank but they would like top 10% (like every other school :D). I wouldn’t submit your SAT scores, but your ACT instead; those are good enough to get even an invitation to their honors program according to their website. Good luck!

Thanks for all the great advice, I have definitely been thinking about applying to maybe a Cornell or Vandy and am realllllly hoping on UF (my dream school since like 5th grade) only bad thing is im not top 10%, only 20% :(

Think if you really want to write the two extra essays for Penn. If you want a shot at being accepted, they will have to be amazing. However to get them amazing, you will need to spend some time.

Nobody pays attention to the 5-point scale.

Don’t apply to Penn. You have to send all your scores. Your 33 ACT is competitive at every school in the US, but the others will drag you down. Look for schools where you can pick your scores.

Good luck pal.

Thanks for the advice, Im looking at USC and Cornell, does anyone have any input on these? (Business major) or have a recommendation for another school I should consider? Thanks again.

brummbuummbummp

If you are interested in business schools, I would go through these three steps:

Are you sure you want a business major? You can be an engineer, computer science, yet still be involved in business. Can you distinguish between being a business major and being a business man? Why do you like it? Are you sure you won’t want to change to a major like engineering throughout college? If there is a chance you are, which is understandable due to the lack of business courses in highschools, find a secondary thing you may be interested in, whether it is poli sci, engineering, biology, journalism… and make sure your school has this major(s) as well.

Google “super match” and answer the questions throughout the left side bar. Personally, I couldn’t care less if I lived near a city or not, if I’m on the east or west coast, or if the school has greek life, but it gave me a good list of schools. Write down some of the highest fit schools for you- and again, don’t worry about how hard they are to get into, you have the scores to be a candidate. That being said, you are by no means guaranteed admissions to any competitive schools, so always have backups.

Visit [College Admissions](http://collegeapps.about.com/) for short, nice profiles on schools. Confirm the schools you got from #2 are good fits.

Visit US News and see how the school ranks. Now if it is #85 and another is #25, don’t cross out the #85. The numbers are just a good way to anticipate the level of applicants that are going to apply to the school and how hard you will have to work on that specific application.

More research. Just research research research. If you have Princeton, Stanford, and Uchicago on your list for example, you will find they collectively require TONS of essays. So look at your list, see if it is worth applying to a school you are not sure if you are interested in—after all, you can always replace it with an equally prestigious or academic school with less essays if you want.

Again, good luck pal.

Your GPA is way too low for UCLA and Berkeley.

Wow, thanks for all of the great advice everyone, I’ve been doing some research and I found that Columbia’s business program doesnt start for 1 or 2 years into the school, so I am looking at USC, as it is strong in Entrepreneurship and Business.
