I am assuming you are an OOS applicant. IMHO unless you applying for some of the very highly competitive majors at UD (i.e. Chemical Engineering, Nursing) it would be my perspective that your chances of admission are reasonably decent (obviously no guarantee) as long as your course work in HS was rigorous and included Honors and/or AP classes. It is becoming increasingly difficult to accurately predict acceptance as the OOS competition for admission has been progressively increasing. Your chances probably are improved if your State of residence is not NJ, NY, or PA (due to the large number of applicants from these States). If you are an in-state applicant you should have little problem in being accepted. Best of luck to you.

Generally what does it take to be admitted into the Honors Program and is it worth it?

You have to apply specifically for admission to the Honors Program when you send in your application for admission to UD. I have heard that very occasionally they will contact applicants who have extremely high stats who did not initially apply to the Honors Program and invite them to apply if they are interested (but I would not count on this happening). As far as stats for individuals accepted you are looking at a GPA of around 3.85 and above and an SAT score of around 2000 or above or an ACT Composite Score of 31 or above. There are a number of benefits to being involved in the Honors Program and I would refer you to the Honors Program website rather then try to list them all here. The Honors courses our D took did require more work then similar non-honors courses so you need to be aware of this (in Nursing this included writing more research papers for example). If you really want to challenge yourself to the max at UD the Honors Program is the way to go. An Honors Program Degree is also very nice to have on ones transcript when applying for jobs and professional/grad schools. Hope this info is helpful.

Yes, out of state from MA and looking at Political science. Hoping for law school down the road.
