Chances of Acceptance after Deferral?

Just found out i was deferred by UCF a couple days ago. My current status is:

A decision has been deferred pending receipt of your semester grades from high school.

GPA: 3.37 UW

SAT: math: 610 Reading: 600 Writing: 510

1) If i am rejected for the fall term do i still have a chance for the summer term or no?
2) About how long would it take to hear back after sending my semester grades? They wont be ready until Feb. 4
3) Is deferral more like saying if my 1st semester grades are good enough then i have a good shot for acceptance? or is it more like borderline people are deferred and the best are chosen after most people have been accepted/rejected?

From what I understand they give a good look at those 7th semester grades if you are deferred. Hopefully, you did very well. You would then be re-evaluated using those grades. Not sure how long it’ll take to find out. Remember a lot of kids who’ve gotten accepted to UCF will choose not to go there. Many are still waiting for decisions from other schools before they make their final decision. When some of those slots open up, then UCF can add more students to the mix who’ve previously been deferred. You want to be the “cream” of that batch. The whole term thing isn’t really a big part of the acceptances. If you give them a choice on terms, it’s your preference … not necessarily what you’ll get. Usually you do, sometimes you don’t. So, in your case … term isn’t really up to you. You are just fighting to get in. If they have more slots available in fall, you’ll get fall. If they are jammed in fall, you’ll get summer. If there are slots available in both, you’ll probably get your preference. Good luck! I know a lot of kids who were deferred last year did eventually get in, but it can be nerve-wracking, I’m sure.

zebes

I also applied to USF and FSU so hopefully I can get into one of them.
