I am a Senior in High School and I have already applied to Florida State. I am wondering what my chances are of being accepted for the summer. My credentials are as follows:

One important thing is that I am a 3 year graduate (skipped 11th Grade) and I will be graduating w/ 30 credits yet and still. I am a 16 year old Black Male. I am however an official Senior.

Thank You, I was hoping you were the user who replied to my post. One other thing that I am wondering about, how are the financial aid packages at FSU? My EFC is 0 and my household circumstances and somewhat harsh right now. I need all of the help i can get.

I suggest contacting FSU Admissions and advising them of your circumstances. You may find you are eligible for scholarships, even Honors, given your age and accomplishments.

Ok I am kind of freaking out. I was accepted at FAU and FAMU. Those were my other schools, but I was deferred from USF. I know that FSU’s standards are higher than USF so is this a bad thing? Someone suggested that it could be because they are worried that I will not graduate since I am only a 3 year senior. Also I didn’t submit a resume, recognition letters, or an essay to USF. Input please?

Cam, Being deferred by USF means USF is still looking for a way to admit you. Call or email USF admissions ASAP, ask why they deferred you and ask what you need to do to be admitted. FSU may need the same things, so it is probably good to find out right now from USF for FSU admissions too. Good luck!

My guess is, USF wanted to wait for this semester grades to make a decision. You are 16, and they want to be sure you have the maturity to continue improvement as a “senior.” A “weighted” GPA of 3.4 is low, relatively speaking. And USF AND FSU looks only at your core GPA (4 English, 3-4 Math, 3-4 Science, 4 History, 2 Language).

Hang in there. Deferred just means they are waiting for more into to make a decision.

I called and they said that I was deferred because there is no Junior year on my transcripts and they didn’t review the application because they thought it was a “flaw”. Doesn’t that seem sort of, illogical. I mean I am sure the University has had 3 year graduates before.
