Chances of admission into Virginia schools

First off, I apologize for the length of this post.. and secondly, I greatly appreciate all feedback!

It's that time of year again... Rising seniors freaking out about college applications! I was wondering, what are the odds of
A) me getting accepted into Virginia Tech General Engineering
B) me getting accepted into Virginia Tech University Studies/other major (if denied from gen eng)
C) me getting accepted into James Madison University
D) me getting accepted into University of Virginia
E) me getting accepted into any other Virginia school that you know of

EXTRACURRICULAR

I never really participated in clubs/sports..
Junior year I was a member of my school's competitive math team which came 2nd in the district and 5th in the state (Don't laugh, I got bonus points for showing up)
I plan on joining NHS, Math honor society, and Science honor society this fall as a senior
I think I will play Varsity Ultimate Frisbee this coming spring

As far as personal statements go, I have a close family friend who taught English at Thomas Jefferson High school assisting me... So hopefully my personal statements are good.

Thanks in advance for responses!

I think overall your academic record is strong, even with the rough (understandable) freshman year. You may want to talk to your school counselor about Freshman year and have them address the issues regarding your fathers death in their recommendation letter. Your grades in 10 and 11 are strong, your schedule is pretty rigorous, your AP test scores are strong. Good SAT super score and ACT of 30 is good too (ACT is typically not super scored).

Your weakness is extra curriculars. Do you have anything outside of school - church, community service, hobbies, etc. ? Math team is great (no one is laughing) - it would just be good to have other things and leadership roles - especially for the schools that look more wholistically like UVA or William and Mary. I gather you are interested in engineering - so here goes on VA schools with engineering:

UVA - low/maybe, but tough with your limited EC’s and test scores
VA Tech - chances are average
JMU - chances are average
George Mason - chances are high/average
VCU - yes
ODU - yes

Other public VA schools:
Radford - yes
Longwood - yes
Mary Washington - high/average chance
Christopher Newport - average chance
William and Mary - low/maybe

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! As far as community service goes, I help serve food to the homeless at my church’s soup kitchen at least once a week. I also help my youth pastor run children’s church every sunday (not really sure if this is community service). I also forgot to mention that I participated in A/C/E (an engineering club where we met every week with engineers and worked together to design a library which was submitted into a nationwide A/C/E competition.

All of the things you listed count as EC’s - so be sure to list as many as you can, including helping at church events.
