@wellyontop15 According to the admissions calculator, just by the numbers it’s about 25% BUT your essay makes a huge impact. You didn’t list your grade but assuming you’re a junior make sure to challenge yourself senior year. If possible try and take an AP class on FLVS over the summer to boost your gpa slightly. Are you in state or OOS?
I am in state. I’m taking college algebra over summer as well.
Your test score and your rigor look good but your GPA is outside the UF lane. A 4.1 is commendable but 75% of the kids admitted last year were above a 4.2. According to the UF Common Data set, the university weighs GPA and rigor as “very important” while test scores are “important.” At this stage, there is little that you can do about your GPA as UF does not look at senior year grades during the application process, so that leaves all the other factors for you to look to improve. A few suggestions: 1) Work hard on your essay as it is also very important and it is something that you have control of. For UF, the essay matters. I think other schools use it as a tiebreaker. 2) Consider trying to raise your test score. While UF doesn’t superscore the ACT, it would help you to have a higher number (though a 30 is very respectable). 3) Emphasize leadership on your application. Not seeing a lot on what you shared, so try to work on that. 4) Make sure your senior year schedule is rigorous with academic classes and as many AP and honors classes as are reasonable.
UF has become incredibly competitive and with its holistic admissions process, no one is a lock. You should definitely have some safeties lined up. Be sure to get applications in early to the other Florida schools as with your GPA and test score, you will qualify for generous merit scholarships at several in-state schools.
Good luck and let us know how it goes in February.
No one can really give you a good estimate. There was someone at my son’s school who had a 24 act but 1500 volunteer hours and joined every club imaginable and got admitted over someone with a 1410 SAT and a couple of varsity sports. I do think the essay matters very much for UF maybe versus other schools. You sound like you have a shot but you should look at the amount of ppl not accepted with higher scores on other posts. I wish you luck in this endeavor but don’t rule out other state colleges in the process just so you have a plan B.
