Chances of Getting into UF

I’m a Florida resident and I was wondering my chances of getting into UF with the stats.
I’m currently a Junior about to be a senior next school year.
Weighted GPA: 4.5
Unweighted GPA: 3.4
Academic Core: 3.7
Community Service: 380
Rank 14/373
SAT:1160 (first try at the beginning of junior year)
ACT: Taking it tomorrow (expected 29)

I lived in a foreign country for my ninth and tenth-grade years that had a much more difficult curriculum with only honors classes. This is why I feel my GPA is so low.
I participated in a community service group and I’m now an officer of my new school’s National Honor Society chapter. I will also be joining many EC senior year.

I’m in the IB program and since my country had no APs for ninth and tenth I have not taken any.

I think I will participate in Dual Enrollment during the summer to increase my GPA over the summer and compensate for not being able to take AP classes.

I was an active member of my church and all my teachers love me.

My story:
I moved to Florida because a hurricane hit my island and was offered so many opportunities up here so I’ve decided to apply to a top school like UF.

not great but you do have a great hook which will give you a big boost if you write about it on your essay. You are
in-state so that boosts it even further.

Show a passion that will be evident through your ECs and volunteering. Consistency is a plus as it shows you may have a higher propensity to stay at the university (you can stick to something). You have your summer to do a lot of volunteering. Look at your past ECs, volunteering etc, and try to show continuity around something there. Make sure your Sr. year classes show rigor, as well. Retake the SAT and ACT - really practice by taking practice tests. Half the battle is understanding the test. I recommend a blog called College Panda. There are free old SAT and ACT tests online you can print off. Make your UF essay really creative and interesting-tell a story and weave in overcoming an obstacle - whatever topic you pick. Those are my suggestions.
