Ok so my freshman year was horrible, 2.7 GPA
Then my sophmore year i got a 3.9 UW GPA.(didnt take honors nor AP sophmore year because school has a strict set of rules to get into those classes) this makes my current gpa a 3.3.
I am currently in my junior year and i am taking
Honors physics
Honors pre-calculus
Honor western civilization/art history in spanishAP US Government
AP Statistics
If i get the grades i want this year my GPA will go to approx. 3.9 weighted cumulative.
Then my first semester lf senior year (because that counts towards GPA) i’ll raise my gpa to around a 4.2. I will be take a rigorous work load. (All AP possible)
I expect a strong SAT and i got a 29 on a practice ACT
I have worked for past two summers, like an internship following employees around and seeing what they do. (The company gave me letters of the things i did so i can show those to colleges)
I am in science National Honor society, Athletes for Charity, Key club,Statistics Club and the National Society For High School Scholars
Next year i will add on the Math national honors society, national honor society and possibly more.
I also plan to play varsity volleyball and soccer senior year and maybe this year.
I plan to do a mission trip this summer where we visit a village and build them needs and such.
I will finish high school with around 300-500 hours.
I will get letters of recommendations from two teachers and my college counselor.
I have also won finalist in my freshman science fair.
I am also hispanic, i was not born here and i live in florida. I will apply early if it means a larger chance of me getting in.
What are my chances of getting into The University of Florida?
What can i do to improve my chances?
Thank you!
UF is a reach to high match. Your GPA is a bit low.
UF does not consider your senior year grades, they also don’t consider letters of recommendations.
Your GPA will be in the bottom 25%, which is why it’s a reach/high match. You can do well on the SAT/ACT and that will help, but UF puts more focus on GPA than test scores. You can also keep up on your EC’s, as they are also important in UF’s holistic admissions.
Keep your grades up, do well on the SAT/ACT, keep up on your EC’s. Look for any “leadership” opportunities. Do well on the essay (it matters at UF). Make sure you apply to a few safety schools.
You can apply for Summer B, Innovation Academy, the PACE online, and UF online programs (or UF will automatically consider you for these programs), each would be a bit easier than Fall Admissions.
You should apply, you do have a chance, but also apply to a few safeties.
