Chances of Admittance to UPenn Arts and Sciences as a Business Major

I’m currently a sophomore in high school and participate in my schools DECA (business club), and plan to get more involved in the business world, and hopefully pursue and major in some type of business. UPenn also happens to be my dream school. Now of course I’d love to go to Wharton, but let’s be honest, that’s a reach. Anyways, my question is: do you think the Arts and Sciences school at Penn would not be interested in admitting a business major because they’re already admitting so many to Wharton??

There is no business major in the College, although you can be an Econ major there.

You need to take some time to research colleges before asking questions. Take time and go through the UPenn website – there is a ton of information there. Whartton is the business college of UPenn. You can be an economics major in Arts and Sciences but that is very different from attending a business school.

@daisymuffin Two points to be made here:

  1. As mentioned by others above, Penn CAS does not offer a business major. That said, there are many students in CAS who major in various things such as Econ, PPE, Politics,IR who then go on to top business jobs after graduation. Also CAS students can take as many wharton classes as they can fit in their schedule and take full advantage of all the Wharton business-related student organizations and recruiting resources.
  2. Penn is a reach for almost anyone, regardless the specific school. If you feel that you are not competitive enough to even have a decent chance at Wharton, then your chances at Penn CAS are not that much better either. Wharton might be a bit harder to get in, but the difference is not big. You should think of it as the difference between Harvard/Stanford vs Yale/Princeton. On the margin, it is a bit tougher to get into the former, but you still need to be well within the competitive admissions range for the former to have a decent chance in the latter.

My advice is to apply to the school that best fits your academic and professional interests.
