Chances of being accepted after deferral????

what do you guys think the chances of being accepted to Colgate after deferral from ED are? also... to anybody who was deferred... what did you do after that?

i was also deferred from ed... bleh
ummm i had had an interview back in like october with an admissions associate who really liked me (she called my college counselor to tell her so), so after i was deferred i wrote her a letter just telling her that colgate was still my first choice and i updated her on my grades (since they had gone up since colgate requested my progress report). i also sent an additional teacher recommendation and a few new copies of our literary magazine (i'm the editor). i hope that's enough to get me in...

also, i think (hope) that there's a good chance of being accepted after being deferred because if you look at the numbers from the class of 2011, 706 applied ed, 356 were accepted, 277 were rejected, and 63 were deferred, so it seems like they would only defer you if they really thought you would be a solid applicant in the rd pool.

yeah that's what i thought too from reading the class of '11 stats.. that deferral from ED wasn't just a courtesy. i wrote a letter too and had some additional contact, yet tried to follow the guidelines of 'don't bother them too much'.. hah. also, breckw, i saw on the bucknell board that you were accepted.. congrats! bucknell is one of my next top choices and i'm getting sooo nervous about that. i saw that you live on the west coast.. do you think that's why you got your letter so early? i'm so stressed about this all... :/

haha yeah i just saw you on the bucknell board too! how silly, we probably applied to a lot of the same schools. i def think that being on the west coast is why i already found out from bucknell, because if you notice on that thread the other people who have received letters were from seattle, texas, and california. they must send them out regionally or something like that. i know i'm getting really stressed out. i'm glad i got into bucknell (calmed me a little) but i got rejected from ucla yesterday which was probably my 2nd choice after colgate, so now i'm so nervous to hear from them... to make things more stressful i'm going to be out of town when colgate mails me my decision; i won't find out until i get home on april 6th!

best of luck to you with all the college stuff!

hey guys....not to be totally lame, but it sounds like i've applied to same schools as you too! i was deferred ed from colgate (and i'm soooo nervous about hearing!) and i was just accepted to bucknell. i just posted something there too, but just to stop the rumor, they sent out of early acceptances which is a new thing this year (i'm from CT and i heard last friday). in terms of colgate though, i did the same thing. kept them updated with emails, letters, updates on acting stuff, etc. good luck to both of you!

I heard that last year...out of the 63 deferred ED only 5 were admitted... I could be wrong though...

I posted on another thread, this same information.. more than 9,300 application received 730 place for the class of 2012...
