I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, but does anyone know what % of ED Deferred Applicants are accepted RD?

I'm really really counting on Regular Decision ... i've wanted to go to Princeotn since I was really little... I'll be sooooo depressed if I'm rejected :(

I think we decided that someone once said on here 14%, and we don't know who that was or where they got it from. So that's like 1 in 7 I guess. If that is true, at least it's better than the 8-9% RD people have.

I was deferred too. We definitely have the edge on RD students. Did you guys do anything extra since applying? I had a 95 average unweighted for the midyear report. My counselor also just sent another letter detailing new awards that I received and how I'm involved in a certain program which compliments my app nicely. He also said I'm still working hard, etc. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

I sent in some stuff that had happened since I applied (an extra resume, an abstract of a paper I coauthored, and something saying I was a Presidential Scholar candidate)

wow, good call with the "cautiously optimistic" description. That equates to jumping around like a sugar loaded kindergardener on the inside because you are so anxious but keeping cool on the outside because you know we still are standing on a skinny little 14% chance.

I recorded and submitted a music supplement on tuba (my second instrument), along with a letter. I think it was a little crummy in terms of quality but hopefully they feel the devotion i put into it.

Is Princeton still all you EDers' first choice?

If you don't remember from December, I used to say how guilty I was that Wellesley gradually grew from my second to first choice even though I was applying to Princeton ED. haha I know, bad me!

Anyway, through Wellesley's early evaluation system, I got a likely, so hopefully I'll be going there regardless of whether I get accepted to Princeton or not.

Don't you have a little bit of a grudge against Princeton for putting you through this? I was deferred from Yale and that automatically made me feel a little more distant toward them. It's not that I'm indignant--I don't think I deserved to get accepted. It just makes you feel a little "grr" toward the school. My immediate thought on being deferred was, "I hope they accept me in the spring so I can tell THEM no." Of course I'll be overjoyed to get into Yale in 3 weeks but my rosy glasses are gone...in a way I'm thankful because it allowed me to give Princeton a fairer chance, and now I admit I like Princeton just as much. Blessing in disguise. Good job Yale :)

Hmm, of course I wasn't "happy" that I got a deferrment instead of acceptance, but if they shove me a thick envelope in the mail, you bet I'll accept.

Mallomar - YES! I know exactly what you are talking about. I am sure that the people who were accepted ED were more "worthy" than me, lol, but I was still surprised how quickly I cooled off the whole "Princeton-is-my-life-and-I-don't-know-what-I'll-do-if-they-reject-me" thing. =) Oooh, AND I enjoyed ripping up their 2005-2006 viewbook into tiny little pieces...

Though of course I still have the 06-07 one filed neatly away. I guess my love affair with Prince Charming isn't quite over yet. :D

Oh definitely not. But whereas in the fall, I'd have picked Yale over any other school in a heartbeat...in 3 weeks, if faced with a Yale and Princeton acceptance, I'd have to think long and hard.

Mmy interviewer mentioned to P'ton that i am interested in Engineering
and therefore i decided to apply for the BSE. (thought i was originally heading for a BA)

I gave in a good Engineering Essay specific to Princeton and also my SATII 2c Math score.

ANyone think this was a dumb thing to do? haha
