Hello! I am a Junior at a school in Florida, and I'm currently stressing about my accpetance or denial of admission into some Universtities in Florida. If anyone could help me out here and give a look towards this thread, I would appreciate it a lot!

I'm currently enrolled into the traditional program of my school.
I have an unweighted GPA of 3.2.
I have a weighted GPA of 3.8.
I am taking 2 AP classes, as well as 3 Honors Classes.
In the past years(9th/10th), I've taken all honors possible for main courses except for Chemistry in 10th grade.
I'm a current member of NHS, and a graduate of NJHS.
I've been a member of Marine Biology Club, and have played a year of high school hockey. However, I plan on joining more clubs at second semester.
I have not taken the SAT or ACT but, I have began the registration for the next testing date.
My sister is attedning UF for her second year(if that even matters).
As of right now, I have 16.5 credits(prior to first semester credits).
Also, I have 52.5 quality points. Not sure what that is though!
Lastly, I am ranked 308 out of 672 in my class. And my school is a very competitive school in Florida! It's ranked in thhe top 20 of the state!

Any insight on my standings towards possibly being accepted into FSU or UF would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Take a look at the FSU common data set for 2013-14:

http://www.ir.fsu.edu/Common_Data_Set/2013-14/C.html

The average GPA was a 3.88 (weighted, I’m assuming). The middle 50% of freshmen accepted in 2013 had test scores in the following range: 26-30 ACT composite; 1730-1960 SAT. Your GPA is ok to a little low. Try to drive it up to a 3.3/3.9 and then do well on your test and you should be fine (Match/high Match).

However, UF is a bit more demanding when taking into account GPA (and test scores).

UF’s Middle 50% of the 2013 Class

High School GPA of 4.1 - 4.4
SAT of 1780-2020
ACT of 26 - 31

For more details you can take a look at UF’s common data set:

http://www.ir.ufl.edu/data_OLD_CDS/cds2013-2014.pdf

By looking at table C10, you can see that 96.7% of Freshmen where in the top 25% of their high school class (76.6% in the top 10%). UF usually limits how many offers are made to students at each high school. The combination of low (for UF) GPA and class rank makes UF a Reach/Low Reach.

With all of that being said, do well on your SAT/ACT and try to increase your GPA (to 3.3/3.9) and you could very well earn a merit scholarship at Florida’s other universities (like UNF, UCF, USF, FAU, UWF, etc.). Your hard work will be rewarded! :)

Good Luck!
