Chances of Gettig into UC Davis?

First off I want to ask are the advertised GPA’s on websites like these: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/davis/freshman-profile/
Advertising the UC weighted GPA (2 weighted classes per semester) or a normal weighted GPA?

What are my chances of getting into the school if I have a 1290 SAT, 27 ACT, and a 3.95 UC Weighted GPA (4.35 normal weighted GPA)

The UC GPA noted on that UC Freshman profile website is the UC GPA (capped weighted with up to 8 semesters of Honors points) so your GPA is at the 25th percentile while your SAT score is below the average of 1320 and ACT is just above the 25th percentile. Intended major at UCD can make the difference on your chances.

This is what UCD looks at on your application:

  • Davis

  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores
  • Important: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, Talent/ability, Volunteer work
  • Considered: First generation college student, Geographical residence, State residency, Work experience
  • Note: Scholastic achievement most important, followed by school and community activities, academic interests, special circumstances, special achievements and awards

This is the overall admit rate for UCD and not major specific. There will always be outliers at each end of the spectrum and depending upon major. The more competitive major the higher you want your stats (at or above the averages).

I am within the average for my ACT and SAT scores though

Yes, your ACT is above the 25th percentile of 26 and your SAT score is above the 25th percentile also but both below average along with your GPA. I am just stating facts in regards to your stats which play a very important role in your chances. EC’s and essays will also contribute to your chances along with your intended major. Based on what you have posted, I would say UCD is around a 50/50 chance and across the board your SAT/ACT and UC GPA are below the averages.

ACT 25th percentile is 26
ACT 75th percentile is 32
Average composite is 29.

SAT 25th percentile (Math + ERBW) is 1190
SAT 75th percentile (Math + ERBW) is 1430
Average SAT (Math + ERBW) is 1320.

It might help to break out your ACT composite and English and compare them to the 25th-75th percentile and do the same for the SAT.

I am not an admissions officer and I cannot see the whole picture. You asked to be chanced and it is up to you to agree or disagree. The Freshman profile only helps you gauge where your stats fall in comparison to last year’s admitted Freshman and that is what I am basing my opinion on.
