I have a priority number all the way in the 6900's. At this point i don't care if I'm assigned into the worst dorm there, is there any chance I can even get housing? I'm from out of state and I don't know a single person that will be going there next year so off campus housing isn't really an option for me.

You will get housing, yes. Typically people with priority numbers above 9000 can get housing most years. Last year I believe they still housed applicants with a priority number well over 7500.

I read somewhere that they only have about 6500 spaces available including upper class men housing. Do people drop out and that how people with high numbers get housing? Is there a chance I wont get housing? Would it be better to apply for an LLC in order to try to get housing in one of those?

Most people accepted apply for housing, just in case they end up at Florida State. Of those 6900+ who got priority numbers before you, many will end up at other schools. Some never even sent their deposit in. So your number is, in reality, way lower than that. If you are happy with any hall you might get, then don’t bother applying to an LLC. If one interests you, and you won’t mind having a meal plan (check out which halls do require them), then go ahead and apply, those are typically better places to live.

Yeah, a LOT of people do one of the following:
- decide not to attend FSU
- forget to pay their deposit
- forget to sign in parent signature form (if under 18)

I know that when I applied as a freshman, my priority number was just under 600 when I applied, but by the time everyone ahead of me that didn’t attend FSU or forgot to send in their deposit or signature form was taken out, my priority number was barely above 500. If you think about it, a nearly 100 person drop just in the first 600 people is astoundingly high. Granted, that was now several years ago and the rules have changed significantly to avoid exactly that situation.

Like Nolette said, if you just want housing somewhere and don’t care where, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, if you want to live in a specific building and think you’d enjoy one of the LLCs, I would say go for it and apply for them. I think the deadline though is either today or yesterday for first round decisions… so hurry.

Go to the FSU Housing Facebook page, where they answer tons of questions like this…according to their answer to a recent Post, they anticipate having housing for people with numbers in to 9,000. I think you will be OK.
