I am an in-state student planning to apply to the liberal arts program at PSU. I checked off summer 2015 because it is supposed to be easier to get into. I have a 3.2 GPA and an 1860 on the SAT. The reason for my low GPA is that I did very bad in my junior year, and got under a 3.0 throughout. I had all A's and B's in honors courses 9th and 10th grade. I took 1 AP and all honors in 11th, and am taking all honors and 2 APs this year. I play football, have about 30 hours of volunteer work, and am fairly involved in my school community in terms of clubs and activities. How are my chances of getting in?

your senior year rigor will be factored in but your GPA X SAT, especially junior year which is the most important year, mean that you’re very likely to be offered branch campus. (A 3.2 GPA needs at least SAT 2100 to even have a shot at UP). I would choose the branch campus carefully if I were you, as odds are high you’ll go there. In addition, apply to some PASSHE schools and some of the hundreds of private colleges between OH, PA, NY, MD, and NJ, with at least one match and one safety after you’ve run the Net Price Calculator. (A safety means you’re in the top 25%for GPA and scores and that you can afford it after running the NPC and showing the results to your parents.)

I am in a very similar situation. I am out-of-state and have an unweighted GPA of 3.2 and SAT 2050. I applied for the Summer of 2015 because I also heard that it is easier. I think we both have a good shot to get in. Good luck!

I am also taking my SATs again and will probably get between a 1950-2050 so I may keep it as a possibility. I also plan on applying to Indiana University Bloomington, U of Maryland, U Miami, Pitt, James Madison, and Syracuse. How do you think my chances are there?

I also am applying to Indiana, Pitt, Maryland, and Cuse… It depends on your major. What do you want to study?

Let me know how you do

I am planning on applying undecided

I have already heard back from Pitt and Indiana and got into both… You hear from either yet?
