I am wondering if I should apply to any ivy league schools when I transfer. I've dreamed of going to one since I was little, and now's my chance to apply. I'm reconsidering though; should I even bother, based on how competitive everything is? Do I have a chance of getting in? I've been at community college for two years and have just earned an Associate of Science in mathematics. My cumulative GPA is a 4.0, but I've retaken classes to get it there. I know anyone who applies needs to have a special talent of some sort; I play flute and was in many honors ensembles in high school. However, when I got to community college, I only signed up for music ensembles for one year. In addition, I have zero work experience. I've never had a job that I would list on a resume... So, I'm worried that my activities since I started college won't be enough. Does anyone think I could get in, anyway? I think I might try.

Apply. Just make up some excuse why you weren’t working. Say you were some missionary that traveled all around America, say you traveled and provided food to needy African families, say you were a ghostwriter for some famous politician but can’t say who and can’t provide proof.

Those are all interesting ideas… Haha! I don’t want to make up something too weird… I think I’ll just tell them the truth; I had a job, but my boss was awful so I quit without giving two weeks notice. I could also just get a job asap as a math tutor at the school I’m at right now. It goes hand in hand with my major and it will make me look motivated to study math when I transfer.
