What did your application look like? I am also an 8th grader who applied and didn’t get my letter yet. I can’t wait!

It was okay. I’m a freshman 690 reading 720 math okay essays I think my recommendations are good and you know the regular clubs and stuff (physics club, math team, though I am on varsity debate)

And 4.0 GPA (unweighted)

@googlybear77 I am going to a boarding school on the east coast, and by the time IMSA applications were due I was set on going to prep school. I am going to a prep school, and I will not be attending IMSA as I already accepted a slot at this school. I did not work on my IMSA essays as much as the ones for prep school. I re-read them after I got my letter today and I was ashamed to have sent them in. I come from an popular area for IMSA applicants, which definitely decreased my chances, especially as an 8th grader, and my school does not have a great history of 8th graders being accepted. Most of my school’s graduates have applied for IMSA out of 8th, been rejected and then accepted after a 9th grade year somewhere else. But, this year, 2/4 were accepted so far, and the other 2 have not heard back.

Anyways… My stats were something like this…
My grades are all A’s, except for B+'s in Algebra from 7th Grade. My school does not calculate GPA’s or class rankings
SAT: 710 Math, 640 CR
Math Recommendation: Decent
Science Recommendation: Strong
English Recommendation: Strong
EC’s
Science Olympiad (2 years–lots of medals)
Science Fair (2 years)
Class Vice President
Student Council Secretary
Many math competitions (including IMSA) over the past 4 years, decent amount of awards
School and Club Volleyball
Piano (9 years)
Art Club

I think what really helped me to get accepted was attending IMSA summer camp’s the past 2 years. It showed the school that I was serious, but I know people who have gone to camps there since 1st grade and not gotten in.

Alright, so you’re not going even though you were accepted. Good news to the waitlisted chaps!

Nice! Your application was pretty strong!

I can’t even wait for my letter…so anxious!!!

Same!

I hope my stats are good enough…

I guess we just have to wait until tomorrow!

Well, if you guys 50 miles away aren’t getting it yet… I’m over 300 miles away. Haha. I guess it’s Monday then!
