Chances of getting into IMSA?

Nice. I didn’t get in

What? Were you waitlisted?

I’m just dumbfounded. I really thought you would get in.

Awwww, I’m sorry :(

Hooo, that sucks.

Nope. Not even wait listed. If you get a small letter you were most probably rejected

Yeah, that really really sucks. I’m sorry to hear it.

Hey. I’m going next year :)

Nice. Congrats

I heard that most, if not all, waitlisted people get in from numerous sources. What did you guys hear?

If someone who is accepted decides not to go, the first person on the waitlist gets in and so on.

I know, but when I was on IMSA tours some of the IMSA students told me that most people got in from the wait list. I read once also, I’m just asking if anyone heard anything like that. Thanks though

Hi,
I am going to be taking the IMSA placement test and I want to do VERY well. Does anyone know what to study, any sources to use to study, how hard is it, what to focus on, etc.?
Thanks
I would greatly appreciate it!

I have no idea. I don’t think there’s really any way to prepare other than know what you’ve learned so far.

hey guys. I’m a US citizen and I live in Japan,I was wondering if it was possible for me to apply to this school, or is it only for people who live within the state?

@balledtoohard IMSA is only open to applicants who live in Illinois, as it is a state funded school.

@tigerman333 @jxuwyrm‌ @jtfootball‌ @Farriswheelz I just spent like 10-20 mins reading this entire post and it’s quite amazing. I came here looking for the same kind of thing as you guys, other people interested in IMSA and looking at their chances. I am an 8th grader currently looking to apply freshman year due to the lack of the requirement for a HS science class. From 6th to 8th grade I have had a range of a 3.7-4.0 GPA, mostly an average of a 4.0 GPA. I’ve been in Honors English all of my years and I am currently in Algebra I (class above average, but below gifted, considered “accelerated”) and going on to Geometry Honors in 9th grade. I have pretty trash SAT scores with writing and CR scores in the mid 400’s and mid 500’s in math I took the January test 2013 and will retake it January 2014. I did track for the first time in 8th grade since my parents didn’t let me previous years and made it to the Fox Valley Conference track meet and IESA Sectionals. I also participated in the 2013 NFPA Fluid Power Challenge at Harper College for 8th graders. I’ve played the piano for 7 years and the trombone for 3 years and participated in the Crystal Lake Christmas parade where my school won the best performing band. I live about 30 miles away in a somewhat rural/suburban area. For my Freshman year, I will be taking all honors classes and one AP class. Farriswheelz has given me some confidence because we are somewhat similar and you got waitlisted! Unfortunately, since tigermann333 got denied admission my hopes came down a little, but you all did great as a whole, good job! I just hope this next year will be successful and I can possibly go to IMSA! It would be great if someone gave me some insight on my “stats”.

@kidfood Hi! I’m new to this thread but I recently got accepted into IMSA’s class of 2017. Your extracurriculars are excellent (much better than mine tbh) and your grade average seems good but your going to really need to work on the sat scores and on your application essays. I would recommend you try to get the average sat scores at minimum but the higher the better. Especially try to get a high score in math (I aimed for at least 740). Good luck!!!

@kidfood Your sat scores aren’t so great, but you still have a year to prepare. If you really look over prep books, you should be good to go. Anything high 600s or above for math should give you a pretty great chance. Also don’t psych yourself out when taking it. If you studied enough, you should literally walk into the test room and score high 700s :)

Yeah. :D
