I would guess you’ll get in, but you are pretty close to the border. Try to finish this semester as well as you can and retake the ACT

@jl9961 I would say you are on the boarder. Google the Common Data Set for Indiana University and look at section C. It has the latest stats for acceptances. Your ACT is right at the 25th percentile for the 2016 class and the average GPA acceptance for the 2016 stats was a 3.69. Now, that is the average so that means there are some with lower stats but it gives you and idea. Also if you look at past year stats you’ll see those scores increasing so that means the 2017 class is probably going to be slightly higher and 2018 would probably be even higher.

Keep working on maintaining or increasing your GPA and definitely take your ACT again and perhaps the SAT. IU does super score the test so that can work to your advantage.

Other things to consider, depending on your major you may not be a Direct Admit with those stats so make sure that you understand what that means, especially if you are a business major.

@jl9961 I am also out of state (CA) and got in this year. I didn’t apply early, in fact I applied two days before the final regular decision deadline. Also there was a miss communication with my counselor and she didn’t send my transcripts until 2 weeks after the deadline. I sent them an email apologizing and asking to be put on the wait list, two days later I got in to the college of arts and sciences (one of the easieser schools/colleges) for economics. My GPA was UW: 3.38, W: 3.54. My SAT on the newest test was 1320. My ECs are Summer Camp Counselor 2yrs, Boy Scouts 6yrs, XC jr+sr year, and I am an Eagle Scout. I took one AP (ap chem) + one Honors course (English 3H) junior year. This year I am taking three APs (Calc ab, AP physics, and AP comp gov which is one semester). Overall my GPA was kind of weak. I think what got me in was that I wrote a strong answer in the application section where they ask you about why you want to go to IU, and I am an Eagle Scout. Overall it’s not a very hard university to get into except for the Kelly school of Buissness, but it has good academics and opportunities. My suggestion is that you emphasize something you’re passionate about in the writing section, and how going to IU will help you pursue/learn more about this passion. And also say the academic opportunities you’ll take advantage of at IU. (I said I would use the individualed major program to get a minor in Buissness and add an internship into my degreee.) Also don’t mention that you’re a legacy because it really doesn’t mean anything anymore unless your family donates millions of dollars. If legacy was important I could get into UC Berkeley or U Michigan. Also applying early action is a good idea, even after you apply early action (nov 1), you have until feb 15th to retake any sat or act test to try to improve. Good luck, I’d say chances are in your favor, but just be aware these things are always a little bit of a lottery.

Wow thank you so much!!! @Mylesah
