I'm from a CCC transfering for Fall 2007 as an English major w/ 3.88 GPA (could be higher by time of transfer). I know my chances of getting into UCLA and UC Berkeley are good, but what about Ivies? i.e. Yale, Columbia, Princeton, even Stanford?

Are there good financial aides for these schools as an English major?

Also, I read somewhere in the forums that if you get your major from one university that its nearly impossible to enter the post-grad program of the same university. Is this true, even for an English major?

keep in mind that a 3.88 at a CCC will be viewed as weaker than a 3.88 at a 4-year university...sucks, that's the way it is. Work hard to bring it up and do independent research or something outside of class to show your passion a/b academics. And make sure you have the most difficult courseload at your CCC.

Chicago by far...not to say Chicago is easy, but Stanford and Cornell are incredibly hard to transfer into, whereas Chicago has a pretty generous rate.

dhl3- if you are a male stay as far away from U of Chicago as possible. I have a friend who goes there and he hates it. He says the girls are absolute beasts. They make Berkeley girls look like supermodels.

"Eloquent, yet how true."
There was really no better way to put it. My friend showed me pictures and on average, the girls are awful looking.

Ever hear this slogan?
“The University of Chicago - Where the squirrels are cuter than the girls.”

Coincidently, one of the ugliest girls from my high school goes there. The funny thing is that she actually has a boyfriend (for the first time ever). The guys there must be pretty desperate.

1) Princeton doesn't take transfers, Stanford isn't an ivy.
2) Financial aid at these schools are predominantly allocated based on financial need. Your choice of major would not be a factor.
3) It's not nearly impossible to enter a graduate program at your alma mater. They do like fresh blood to enliven the intellectual atmosphere, but if your grades/recs are good enough and your heart is set on it, there's nothing stopping you.
