Chances of getting into middle tier UCs

Hi Im a junior right at a top 10 ranked California high school. I was wondering about my chances to get into these UCs: UCLA, UCSD. UCI, UCSB, UCD. i have around a 3:67 gpa weighted, 3.33 unweighted, 1980 SAT, 300 hours of community service. Im taking my 4th AP this year and 5th honor class. I’m not on any teams or hold any leadership positions, and only in 1 club. However, I understand the importance of ECs and i am looking for some to join currently, as well as improving my GPA. So can anyone tell me my chances?

Solid SAT but, as you note, your GPA could be stronger. You;ll need to be above 4.0 by the end of next year to be a competitive applicant for those schools. That’s more important than ECs at this point.

I’d encourage you to look into SDSU, UCSC and UCR as viable options.

Good luck

Your SAT is on target, but as stated by @NCalRent, the GPA should be higher for a solid chance at UCD/UCI and UCSB. If you are aiming for UCSD/UCLA, you need a UC GPA of 4.1+ and SAT above 2000+ for any decent chance. Work on your grades, retest for the SAT or try the ACT and look for some interesting EC’s to round out your application. Come back next year with all your information and then you can be realistically chanced.

Good Luck.
