I'm a junior hoping to get into MIT to major in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
I took algebra 1 in 7th grade, geometry and algebra 2 in 8th grade, precal as a freshman, bc calculus as a sophomore and got a 3 on the ap test, took calc 3 this year as a junior and plan to take differential equations and linear algebra next year. (I realize these classes probably won't transfer to MIT.)
I took high school IPC in 8th grade, preap biology as a freshman, preap chemistry as a sophomore, preap physics as a junior, and next year I am taking AP chemistry and AP Physics.
I took spanish 1 as a freshman, spanish 2 as a sophomore, and preap spanish 3 as a junior.
I took preap high school us history in 8th grade, preap world geography as a freshman (took human geography ap test but only made a 2), ap world history as a sophomore (another 2 :p), and AP government and economics as a junior.
I took preap english as a freshman and sophomore, this year and next I am taking AP english.
I am taking dual credit health and speech.
I have been in newspaper since my second semester of high school and I am an editor this year.
I have been in band all through high school. (percussion/drumline!)
I joined choir this semester and hope to join theater the end of this year as well.
I took a semester of dance freshman year but I have been dancing outside of school since I was three(tap, ballet, jazz, pointe, modern, lyrical, and some hip hop.) This year I am even teaching. :)
I am very involved with various activities with my church.
I am in NHS, the UIL academics team at my school, TAME (texas alliance for minorities in engineering), and the Nasa High school aerospace program.
My gpa isn't perfect. I am ranked 24 out of my class of 465. My sat and act scores so far have been slightly under the average at mit, but i plan to retake the sat, and i have not yet taken the sat subject test.
I also am trying to go to some engineering or math and science related camps this summer and i am going to do an independent research project on either lasers or the residue theorum.
I actually was not really interested in mit or any ivy league school until this semester. I've just always been crazy busy! Hopefully it will pay off!
Can you tell me my chances of getting in or what else I could do?

For a school like MIT everyones a crap shot…i don’t really know what to say about your 3 on Calc BC…i applaud u for doing calc BC sophomore year, i won’t be doing it till junior year myself, but a 3 is kinda low…wat happened?

I really don’t know what to say, you have depth in ur ECs but ur class rank doesn’t show exceptional academics…good essay, and great recs put u in a decent position, but it’s a really long road to MIT.
