She has a 3.8 weighted GPA 29 ACT 1740 SAT (we didnt send in the SAT to all schools)
Only one AP class (Eng lit) Lots of Honor classes
200 plus community service hours including being a teacher's assistant to the Freshman acting class, Senior citizens dance every year, freshman orientation leader, etc
Counselor at a sleep away camp
Drama Club all 4 years of hs including being the senior vice president (never missed performing in a show)
color guard 2years
Illusion (HS annual Rock concert) a lead vocalist for 3 years
Shes also applied to Ithaca and Penn State

Thanks

Definitely in at Cortland and New Paltz.
Very good chance at Binghamton.
Chance at Geneseo (match) and Geneseo will recalculate someone's weighted GPA because they only use an unweighted GPA in their process.

Geneseo is a touch school to get into and even more so this time around. Good luck.

New Paltz- Definite that she will get In
Ithaca- Match
Penn State U Park?- Match

are you sure Bing is a good match? She applied EA Does that increase her chances during this competitive year?

Yes it is a good match. Everything looks solid and things will be more competitive, but I personally believe it's not as a competitive as people (and colleges) are making it out to be. I don't think EA increases one's chances but it shows that Bing is your first choice. It may be helpful if you get deferred and are borderline (on thin ice) candidate.

Just a little thing about how Bing and other schools are claiming to have an overflow of applicants: I live in NY and I saw a commercial about 2 weeks ago telling you to apply to Bing. Now I have heard they are trying to increase out of state applicants but think about it this way. Why would Bing spend money on commercials to attract in state applicants if they claim the number of applications are up? It doesn't make sense for them to do that, you don't see Cornell commercials do you? For out of state though, it would be normal to see commercials (NJ, PENN, etc.). My only uncertainty about the whole "we have an overflow of applications".

Hmmmmmm that does seem interesting doesn't it? Thanks for the info. She has applied to the Harpur school and I heard that is less competitive (drama major). Thinking about their pre law program as well. This is sounding promising. Thanks so much for all your help!
