Chances of Getting into Newhouse

Newhouse is my top choice and I'm wondering if I'll get in.
I have a 4.0 gpa, 1410 SAT (1950 Total), 32 ACT.
I got a 5 on AP Chemistry last year, and I'm taking 3 APs this year. Almost all of the other courses I've taken have been honors. I'm in the top 10% of my class, and almost all of my grades have been As.
I am a Boy Scout and am close to becoming Eagle Scout. I have done sports and I'm in many extracurricular programs.

What are my chances of getting in to Newhouse?

Thanks

very, very good…stats are very similar to my daughter’s (she’s a junior there); wouldn’t be surprised if you got merit $$…did you interview?

Thanks. All I had to go by was their “we’re a very competitive school” line. I didn’t interview… Is that a bad thing?

you need to set up an interview; where do you live? otherwise, they are going to think you are using them as a safety…seriously

I live near NYC, so I guess I could do it at their place in NYC…
Oh, I forgot to mention that when I visited SU, I sat down with a person at Newhouse and spoke with him about the admission requirements and the school. He also said that I could send a few DVDs of my TV work to him and he might be able to put in a good word for me with Admissions.
It wasn’t a formal interview so I didn’t think to mention it.
Should I still set up an interview?

absolutely yes; call the Lubin House asap;

there is more than one person there who you can talk to; I hope that you can still get one; if they say no, ask them if you can be put on a waiting list; interviews will probably open up as ED decisions arrive from other schools…

interviews are crucial for scholarships and since you are an excellent candidate for one, couldn’t hurt…I also think that they are important for admission…
