I am graduating one year early if that matters in admissions
Your GPA is very strong for SDSU, but the SAT score could be higher. The main problem you’ll face is the fact that I believe all the majors at SDSU are impacted – so the competition is a lot tougher for all the majors. Have you calculated your eligiblity index for CSU schools?
SDSU admits by Eligibility index and major. You need to calculate your CSU GPA from the a-g course requirements taken 10-11th. As an OOS applicant, only AP/IB or DE courses counted for the extra honors points (weighted).
If you EI is around 4100, then you are a competitive applicant.
Here is the CSU/UC GPA calculator and the CSU GPA will be the capped weighted GPA calculated: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Will graduating early effect my chances at all? And btw I calculated my EI to be 4356, how competitive is that?
Graduating early should not effect your chances as long as you have the a-g course requirements completed. Your EI is competitive.
Have you ever heard of anyone getting denied with an EI around mine?
Yes I have seen some CC posters being denied but mainly Nursing majors.
Would you say electrical engineering or business would be easier in terms of acceptance.
All majors at SDSU are impacted (more qualified applicants than spots available) and many have around a 30% acceptance rate or less except for Nursing (around 5-7%). In terms of applicants, Business Management had around 3000 applicants vs. 750 for EE. Pick the major that you are most interested in pursuing since all majors are competitive. Also SDSU does not consider your alternate major, so if you do not get into your first choice, you do not get into the school.
I think being OOS, your chances are higher if you can pay the OOS fees. The CSU system is always looking for extra money. Did you already apply or are you applying for next fall?
I am going to apply next fall. Thank you very much for your help.
