Chances of getting into the University of Miami

I am currently a high school senior with a 3.708 weighted GPA & a 3.458 unweighted GPA. I decided to do dual enrollment, a program that allows me to take college courses for both high school and college credit. I take all (four) of my classes at Georgia State and am pursuing a degree in Neuroscience. Currently I have all high A's and believe I will finish the semester with a 4.0 GPA for my first semester in college. This will factor into my high school GPA, but not with any quality points.
My dream has always been to go to the U and study in their Neuro program, but their GPA to be considered a "competitive" freshman is a 4.2; their SAT scores were about 50 points off mine in each test subject (my composite was a mere 1600) and I can not lie the tuition (about 60K according to Collegeboard) is quite costly. I am thinking to minimize costs I should continue to study at GSU, keep my grades up, and transfer second semester of my junior year to obtain my degree from the U. Will a solid college GPA overcast a modest high school GPA. Will it merit a generous scholarship? Should I take my SAT again (and ACT for the first time) now that I have an advantage with college classes behind me?

It’s gonna be kinda hard to get in with that GPA and SAT unfortunately

It’s not gonna happen with a 1600/2400. I don’t know the breakdown but that equals a 1070/1600. Miami’s average is a 1270-1410. That plus your kind of low GPA makes it a pretty high reach.

You obviously have shown you can get good grades in college, so transferring in is your best bet.

I’m think I’ll take the sat again in January along with the ACT to see where I stand and hopefully these grades will move my unweighted GPA up some too. Thanks everyone!

Try to get at least a 29 or 1300/1600. Applying for spring semester might be a good option too. It would give you time to do good in college and to get your test scores up.

Good luck! The U is also my top school. You’ll end up there one way or another!
