I am currently a junior in high school and was wondering about my chances of getting into UCLA or Berkeley.
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.33
I took 1 AP and 1 Honors course sophomore year, am currently taking 2 AP courses and plan to take 3 APs and 1 Honors for my senior year.
ECs: (by the time I'm a senior)
Member of baseball team (4 years)- Team captain freshman year/MVP freshman year
Member of football team (2 years)
Peer math tutor (3 years)
Staff writer of school newspaper (2 years)
National Honors Society (2 years)
I was awarded the Gold Medal at my school for having the highest GPA in the freshman class in 9th grade plus various subject awards
I will have interned at most likely a hospital by the time I graduate.
100+ volunteer hours for various service organizations

also based on my Plan Test it is estimated that I’ll receive either a 32 or 33 score on the ACT (haven’t actually taken it yet) but obviously that can fluctuate

You are definitely on track. Hopefully you can get > 2000 on the SAT or > 30 on the ACT, maybe take a subject test or two in subjects you are strong at. Start your personal statement early and get lots of feedback and advice on it. Keep up your GPA (which is impressive considering your involvement in athletics), and you should be a strong candidate.

Good GPA… but for UCLA you must demonstrate you are taking and successful at handling the most rigorous courses at your high school by pursuing a majority of Honors and AP courses. Taking only 2 AP courses and no Honors course your junior year is going to hurt you. 3 APs and 1 Honors for your senior year should have been your class load this year.

The “average” UCLA admitted student takes 21 semesters of “UC approved” weighted courses such as AP, IB, CCC
