I'm a student at a catholic prep school in CT and trying to get an idea of the chances of getting into the best U cal
schools. I have a un-weighted GPA of 3.79 for my 10th and 11th grade years. I have taken six honors courses and one of those is an AP class (APU.SH). If weighted (only the AP course) it would be a 3.86. I do not know if your honors courses are weighted but i was only weighing the AP or if being at a private school helps. For my EC's I've been on varsity basketball and baseball since freshman year, i play the cello, and have done art since freshman year and going to take an AP art course offered by UCONN. I'm in student council and an student ambassador since freshman year. I work for my town at the youth center everyday after school and play for the town's American legion baseball team and the captain of the high school team.I'm in national honor society and art honors society and the honors society for music. I have not taken my SAT yet and i'm just looking for thoughts on what score i should shoot for with my activities and grades if i want to get into Berkeley or UCLA (I have residency in California from my Dad living out there.)

Residency applies generally to which parent you’ve been living with: custodial parent. UCLA and Berkeley will be reaches.

I had 1 C and a B my 10th grde but got straight A’s me 11th grade btw

You need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Since you are OOS, only AP classes count for the extra Honor points in the calculation. Average UC GPA for both schools is around a 4.2. Average SAT score around 2100+. Your chances are slim with only 1 AP class on your transcript. You will be competing with students that have anywhere from 6-12 AP classes finished by Senior year unless your school only offers a few AP’s. If not, then your course rigor is lacking and will put you at a disadvantage. Both schools are Reaches. Are you a Junior or Senior? From your post it sounds like you have not finished your Junior year since you have no SAT score? You should repost when you have an SAT score.
