hi im new to this website so im still trying to figure things out but i was wondering what my chances are of getting into ucla or usc-i am currently a junior in high school but
my gpa isnt that great:
3.8 gpa freshman year
4.1 gpa sophomore year ( 1 AP 2 honors classes)
4.5 gpa junior year ( 3 APs 1 honors class)
and im planning on taking all AP classes my senior year
my SAT score was pretty good- ive taken it once and got a 2230
800 CR
750 W (missed 1 but got an 8 on my essay unfortunately)
680 M (completely messed up on this section
im still trying to decided whether or not i should take it again... ???
i am also planning on taking two sat IIs (math 2c and chemistry: im pretty sure ill get an 800 on the math one)
i volunteer at a hospital (100+ hours)
ive been in csf, nhs, key club, red cross club but unfortunately im not an officer for anything.
ive been on the varsity tennis team since freshman year and have won a bunch of awards from that:
team valley champions (9th grade)
SWYL 2nd place (10th grade)
SWYL 1st place (11th grade)
top scholar athlete award (11th grade)
6th place in valley individuals (11th grade)
all area second team tennis award (10th and 11th grade)
i do some extra stuff outside of school like supervise out of town tennis trips for local country clubs however im not involved in any school academic teams so i think thatll really hurt me when applying for these schools.
do i still have a chance of getting in??
if so, what else can i do that will make me stand out?

“my gpa isnt that great:

Now I just think you are bragging. Anyway, if you keep that gpa consistent then you have a solid-great chance at both schools. If you’re in Cali then it would be even easier for you. But those are some bomb grades and scores. Just make your essays awesome and you will probably have no problem getting in, but always apply to some safties JUST IN CASE. I know a girl who got into UCB, UCLA, and USC from out of state (WA) with a 3.9 unweighted gpa, 2240 SAT, 32 ACT, salutorian, awards, cross country, and some other dedicated ecs.

i dont think my gpa is good enough to be considered bragging…my cumulative gpa with those is very low and ive seen many people here who have cumulative gpas of 4.3s and higher…which ive kind of blown my chances of getting now -__-
and i know people who have gotten 2300+ scores and they got rejected from these schools so thats why im worried…
and since im not on any academic school teams (like science bowl, acadec, math bowl, etc) doesnt it look…bad? idk…

i have a similar question. I am wondering what my chances are of getting into UCLA and USC.
i am an out-of-state resident (i live in new york)-but i hear that this might be to my advantage now when applying to a UC school since California needs the out-of-state tuition. Is this valid?
for UCLA my scores stand as:
28-ACT composite
720-Bio SATII
i havent taken the math SATII yet.
5 on AP bio exam
4 on AP english exam
freshman year my gpa was a 4.3-out of 4.6
sophomore year my gpa was a 4.3-out of 4.6
junior year my gpa was a 4.2-out of 4.6

The only difference for applying to USC would be that since it uses the common app and it superscores the ACT my new ACT composite would be a 32.

my volunteer work is that i have volunteered at a hospital for one summer and this summer i am volunteering at a children’s center. I have been involved in various dance benefits for causes such as Dancer’s responding to AIDS and Groove With Us-helping underprivileged dancers. I dance competitively for a dance company and that takes up most of my time outside of school. I was also chosen to be a Peer Leader this year which shows leadership.

Do you think i have any chance of getting into either of these schools? i know that both are extremely selective and my ACT score is not very strong.
