My stats:
3.81 unweighted GPA
4.31 weighted GPA
Top 10% of class at competitive school.

Taking college-level English 101 course this year.
Will have taken only 3 AP classes by graduation.
Other classes have been Honors whenever available.
School Honor Roll or district-wide President's List each semester.
Straight A's junior and sophomore years.
SAT: Math 590, Critical Reading 580; took SAT twice with similar scores.
National Honor Society and involvement in other academic & charitable organizations.

Any chance?

hmm gpa is fine for UCLA
not sure about USC
but your sat needs to be up to at least high 1900s
UCLA counts all 3 sections so you should list that too..i think USC does too
Do you have any volunteering? any ECs?
In colleges such as UCLA, they aren't the traditional types that only look at academic achievements since they look for all well-rounded individuals
if you don't have any of those...i'm just gonna say it's going to be really tough....your acceptance also really matters on your major too

With those SAT scores, it will be an uphill struggle to get into either school, however if you are all As in your sophomore and junior year, then your UC GPA is about a 4.3 to 4.4, which will give you an excellent chance at UCSD, even with those SAT scores. If you are top 4% of your class at an economically disadvantaged school in California, then you would have a chance at UCLA--otherwise, I'm guessing that you will just miss out.

I'd say just apply and hope for the best--and indicate that you are better in-class than under a restricted time deadline for the SATs. Also, if you have good SAT II scores this can overcome the SAT I scores--so pick categories you are really good at for when you take those two (which are required to be taken no later than December of this year).

Good luck.
