Chances of Getting Into UCSC

Hi, I'm new to CC, and have a question...

What are my chances of getting into UCSC? My GPA, for an Asian, is extremely low.

Unweighted: 2.33
Weighted: 2.66

I'm currently taking summer classes and online classes to fix up Ds and Fs in both 10th and 11th. I know UCs don't take senior year grades into account, and I calculated that I could bring my weighted GPA up to a 2.97, and my unweighted to a 2.75. (Do UCs take unweighted or weighted?)

Oh yeah, SATs,

Critical Reading: 590
Math: 690
Writing: 580

In terms of school, I've generally tried to take harder classes but always drop short of expectations. I've only taken one AP last junior year (APUSH), and two honors (Physics and Pre-calc). Senior year, I'm taking AP Stats, Japanese 4 H, AP Computer Science, AP Chem, AP Macroeconomics, and Gov

I've been a Boy Scout for 6 years and am currently an Eagle Scout
I've committed over 200 hours of community service towards the environment.
I'm involved in several clubs, such as Interact, and have held Secretary/Treasurer jobs within each club (do I mention this in the UC Application?)
I've taken Chinese classes outside of school for 12 years.

Please help :D I would greatly appreciate it.

UCs take UC grades. In other words, sophomore and junior grades plus an additional point each for up to eight semesters of AP/approved honors courses.

Your ECs are kind of good, and yes, you include your officer positions in the UC Application somewhere.

Not sure if Chinese school counts at all.

Your chance of getting into UCSC is still pretty low though.

Thanks a lot kagami6918 :D, I really appreciate it.

Anyone else have any advice?

Calculate your UC gpa (you can use an online calculator to do this). If your gpa is below 3.0 the UCs won’t even look at your app. I would suggest CSUs or a cc then transferring.

I was in a similar position as yours during my senior year in high school. My GPA was about 2.95 or something like that. I had high SAT scores (690 math, 6-something for writing and critical thinking), but due to my GPA, I couldn’t even apply to UC’s. Instead, I went to a CCC, and I’ll be transferring to UCSC this Fall quarter with a 3.64 GPA :)
