I just finished my freshman year of high school and I soooo badly want to get into University of Florida. I realize it’s a little early to tell, but I just need to know if I’m on the right track.
My first semester GPA was 3.83 and second semester was 3.86. I had all honors core classes(algebra 1, English, biology, World history) and I got all a’s and b’s, accept in two quarters(different semesters) I got a c+ in algebra— math and science are my weakest subjects.
I got an A in both English and Spanish(I plan to take Spanish all four years).
Next year(sophomore), these are the classes I’m taking
honors geometry
honors English 10
honors marine biology
Spanish 2
Psychology(1 semester)
Apologetics(1 semester- religion classes are required at my school, I go to a private christian school)
Yoga(1 semester)
Choir
One other elective- not sure which one.
Psychology takes place of my history class- I was going to take AP Euro but I didn’t get an A in world history last year.
I plan on taking AP lang and lit for junior and senior year, AP Psych, and possibly AP U.S. The other classes will probably be honors except I might have to take regular chemistry junior year because the honors class at my school is supposedly very, VERY difficult (not just gossip, lot’s of failing grades).
Extra stuff:
-I’m on my school’s varsity cheer team(will be every year), and hopefully I may be captain/co-captain my senior year
-Senior Thespian
-Lot’s of theatre experience
-choir
-student ambassador
(I might be missing something but I’m pretty sure that’s it)
I realize that the acceptance rate is pretty low for a public university(39%) so that’s why I’m trying to get the best grades possible. I also know that it will also depend on my ACT and SAT(I plan on taking both- idk if it’s required or not but even if it’s optional I’ll take both)
