Hello!
What are my chances of getting into Umass Amherst, UConn, URI, Rutgers New Brunswick, University at buffalo, and university of deleware applying undecided…and if have any college suggestions for me based on my below stats.
SAT:1040
GPA: 3.0
Lots and lots of extra circulars including being a senior leader of 6 clubs and being a captain on 3 varsity sports both my junior and senior year. In addition also volunteering at 3 church groups that had community service trips and volenteering at a hospital for two years because I want to be a nurse but am applying undecided because it gives me a higher chance of getting in, where I hope to switch into nursing my second year.
Umass Amherst is my number one and dream school although it is a reach. Throughout high school I had to miss many school days due to surgeries I had have done. I wrote about that experience in my college essay. I applied to Binghamton, Fairfield, and Drexel and got rejected from all three. The only school I haven’t heard back from early action is mass. the rest are regular decision.
Do you have any safe schools? You will not get into UConn’s main campus. You might want to consider applying to one of your state’s local colleges, as opposed to the flagship U’s. For instance, you might get into a branch campus of UConn. You would very likely be admitted to any of the Connecticut state colleges. Some of them have nursing programs.
If what you want is nursing, you should probably apply directly to any nursing programs that you might get into. Many state colleges and community colleges have nursing programs. They’re affordable, and their graduates find jobs. After the first job, they’re looking at your work experience far more than at your education. You are far, far more likely to be able to achieve your goal of becoming a nurse by applying directly to less selective nursing programs, such as at community colleges and state colleges, than by applying to flagship state Universities, and hoping to be able to transfer into their nursing programs.
I would say URI is your best shot at an acceptance. Agree that you should look at other schools’ direct admit nursing programs. In what state do you reside? UMass Dartmouth might be worth an application.
Buffalo and Rhode Island are the “easiest” schools to get into on your list.
Salve Regina, Regis, SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Brockport, and Caldwell in NJ might bear a look. Brockport and Plattsburgh don’t get the shine of some the other SUNYs but the have nursing with lower admission criteria. Regis offers generous merit money and you don’t need super high stats there.
Hi I got into umass ea cs non honors.
Do you have any idea how difficult is to get into honors after joining umass amherst?
Also how much difference between honors and nonhonors of umass cs?
@Guidelines24 Very little class work and classmates wise.
Housing and other amenities are different. Most CS students would be honors for nearly all other majors. Good for you. A really really tough admissions process this year for cs. Take the spot. Congrats.
What do you think the minimum GPA and SAT score is to get into UCONN nursing then?
“Hi I got into umass ea cs non honors.”
U.Mass Amherst is excellent for CS. Do not worry about honors. Honors does not matter.
The average gpa of all admitted students at UConn is 3.77 and average SAT is 1320. Even if you get accepted, I think it will be difficult to transfer into nursing.
