So I was accepted into Chapel Hill early action with a merit scholarship, but I am currently failing an online class that I’m taking because I didn’t do any work in it for like a month (I know I’m lazy and it was stupid). I currently have A’s in all my other classes including AP Chem, AP Human Geo, AP French, and AP English Lit. Anywho what are the odds of my acceptance getting rescinded? (The class I’m failing is APCSA by the way).
I think that your chances of getting your offer and/or scholarship rescinded are pretty high. Our school’s guidance counselors have always told us that getting a “D” is grounds for rescission; so getting an “F” is going to be worse.
I would speak to your guidance counselor ASAP and discuss how to ameliorate, if you can, the effect of your failing grade; and whether/how you should contact UNC-CH admissions office about the situation.
Is it an elective?
Definitely talk to your GC right away.
Is it your first online class? Honestly these courses are not for everyone. I’ve seen firsthand how a student can fall behind very easily by being overwhelmed by the virtual format. I would caution anyone taking an online class to fully understand what is expected and how to make use of all the functions within the e-learning website.
I really hope you can turn things around – all the best to you!!
The semester isn’t over yet. Do what you have to do in order to get a passing grade. Start right now-- get off CC and get to work on the coursework.
Now is the time to go directly to your GC, and your teacher and do a lot of appealing to see if you can make up work. Hire a tutor, ask for a mentor. Get to work.
