Chances of getting into NYU Stern (regular decision/ED)? Thx

If I had to bet, I’d bet against you getting in. First of all, as an Asian, it’s an uphill battle from the get go. u really want 2300 + and you’re not even at 2200. Trite ECs and the piano stuff feeds into stereotypes.

what if I submit only the ACT score?

bump

Stern’s most represented race is Asian; they don’t discriminate based on race. Your objective scores are all very good, either at or slightly above average. I’d be a bit worried about your Rec’s and EC’s, though. To make up for it, make sure your essays are as good as possible. With that, you should have a solid shot at getting in RD. I don’t think you need to worry about wasting your ED on NYU unless you’re set on attending and have the finances to attend no matter what.

Definitely do ED if you want a solid chance of getting into Stern. RD is so, so unpredictable and frankly a bit more competitive imo.

Your GPA and scores are definitely in the range, but your EC are lacking.

Good luck.
