So, unique chance thread. Wondering how much of an affect it has if 50 people apply from my school. Even if many of them are qualified, would they not accept some, just on the basis that they have already accepted too many people from my school?

any ideas?

Most colleges say that the number of applicants from a given high school is irrelevant; they judge each applicant on his/her merits. Personally, I don't buy it; it just doesn't make sense. How could it not matter? By way of your example, they can't very well accept a few dozen kids from one high school if they are going for any kind of diversity/spreading the wealth approach.

According to Naviance, NU accepted 49, 44 and 44 students from S's high school in '06, '07 and '08 respectively. So if you are from the Chicago area, you probably shouldn't be too worried.
