I am a freshman at UMASS dartmouth in my second semester. I didnt do that well in highschool and had around a 2.6.. but after my first semester i had a 3.7 and made deans list, i completed 12 credits and i am enrolled in 16 now which i expect to do well in. my SAT scores were 580's in reading and writing, and a 540 in math. I am trying to get into UMASS Amherst for the fall of 2010. what are the chances of my getting in? i wrote a pretty compelling essay which explained doing badly in highschool vs college.. im really nervous my highschool grades will still out weigh what i have done so far tho.. help!!!

i reallly need help!! please

its real easy to get to umass amherst from here (im at umd)

you meet with the dean yet?

no i havent, should i meet with them… i just finished getting all my transcripts and sat scores mailed over

to transfer to northeastern the dean rec was mandatory, might not be for amherst

how did you get the transcript sent there? can we use COIN?

no i went to the foster administration building and asked them to mail it over, you have to fill out a transcript request form but its all pretty easy

I think you’ll be fine. Amherst will only care that you’ve done well in college, and if your essay was strong (perhaps about how you’ve changed as a student?) I don’t think you’ll have any problems.
