I'm planning on applying for transfer for the pre-computer science major (at least I think that's what it's called) for spring 2013. I have 29 hours right now, but by the end of the fall I will have 46 hours. Currently, my gpa is a 3.45, but I plan to raise it to a 3.5-3.6. I have taken college algebra and am taking calculus in the fall, if that helps. If my chances are not that good, would it be better to transfer as undeclared or into the College of Liberal Arts and then, if I'm accepted, try to internally transfer? I really want to study computer science at UT Austin, but I'm afraid my gpa isn't high enough for them to even consider me. Also, are letters of recommendation a must when trying to transfer?

I actually have taken two college algebra courses (funct. approach and trig) and will be taking PRE-calculus in the fall.
