Chances of Transferring to Duke?

I was wondering if anyone knew whether I would be a particularly good applicant at Duke or if I shouldn’t waste my time.

Current University: Honors Program at Flagship State School ranked between 150 and 200
College GPA: 4.3 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
Majors: Political Science, Economics, and French
Minor: Arabic
High School GPA: 4.7 weighted, 4.0 unweighted, Valedictorian
ACT: 33/34 superscored
SAT: 2280

College EC’s: Interning at state Democratic Party, working for the book review at the premier geographic journal in the U.S., mock trial, and Students for Justice in Palestine

High School EC’s: Beta VP, French Club President, State High School French convention secretary, Quizbowl Captain, NHS historian

I want to transfer because my current university doesn’t have great research opportunities, which is something I really need as I aspire to be a professor. If I got into Duke I would major in Public Policy and Economics.

Do I have the credentials? I know I’m going to have to struggle over the essay questions, but I just wanted to know if I would have a shot as it is.

following! want to hear people’s responses

Forgot to mention, I came in to college with 74 early credit hours

I got 5s in: AP Bio, U.S. History, World History, Calculus AB and BC, and English III and IV
4s in: AP Human Geography, Physics C Mechanics, Government & Politics, and Probability & Statistics
Took dual enrollment English 2000 and 2001, and Humanities 2060 and 2061

I now have 90 total hours, I will have 106 by the end of the year.

You’re definitely qualified, but do you have a compelling story and a desire to be at Duke for more than professional reasons?

My parents are refugees in America and their parents were Palestinian refugees in other Arab countries, so I think being the first sedentary generation since then is compellingish(?) and I want to go for their research, internship, and community service programs but also for the diverse student body and the fact that it’s close to home. Will any of that help? Thanks so much for your response!
