I am currently a freshman at McGill University. Although I am not having a terrible time here, I would like to transfer for a few reasons.

1) McGill is simply too big. The size of my four classes, from smallest to biggest, are 75, 150, 325, and 600! I think I would prefer smaller classes with more professor-student interaction.

2) Perhaps partly because McGill is SO big, I have yet to find my crowd...

3) I want to be closer to my New York City home... not so much because I need to be closer to my family (although that would be nice), but because I need to be closer to my girlfriend, whom I love so much.

From what I understand, if I transfer to Wesleyan, they would primarily be looking at my college grades. To a much lesser extent, they care about high school GPA and SATs. I suppose an essay and an interview can still count.

I read somewhere that the average Wesleyan incoming transfer student has a college GPA of somewhere between 3.50-3.60 (I think in the lower end of this range). I also read that Wesleyan likes to accept transfer students because it "spices up the campus".

Obviously I can't know for sure how my GPA will end up, but so far I am doing very well in all 4 of my classes. I'd say the range will be 3.60-3.85 based on how I'm doing so far. So let's say my GPA ends up being a 3.65. The classes I am taking are American History, Philosophy, Political Science and Political Economy.

My high school GPA was around an 89. I am doing relatively much better in college. My SAT score was a 2020 (670 CR, 650 Math, 700 Writing). But like I said, I believe my college grades are far more important.

Assuming I write a good essay and interview with them, what are my chances of being admitted to Wesleyan as a transfer student? Are there any other very solid schools I might have a chance of transferring to that would make me happier than McGill has so far?
